Dr. Troy Miller spoke to us on Tuesday about the Opioid Crisis. He brought 4 guests with him, and there were 8 members present. Included in the guests was Rotarian and woodcarver from Illinois, Jim Camp. Jim F. and Janelle S. attended the district conference last weekend. Friday's events during the day included helping victims of sex/human trafficking. That evening, Buey Tut spoke about building water wells in South Sudan. He is from South Sudan and he worked with the Wayne, NE club to ensure 10,000 South Sudanese people had access to clean water. What makes their story even more interesting is the fact the wells were built during a civil war! Saturday's events focused on raising children drowning awareness, information about our tree planting efforts, women's empowerment in Rotary, and the awards ceremony that evening. The Crete club won TWO awards! We were #10 in the top 10 clubs of profile points. The most exciting one was us winning Outstanding Small Club! Based on the number of service projects and volunteer hours, we were recognized among the small clubs! Thank you ALL for your time and effort last year. Thank you also to Jack T. for his leadership. I'm excited to see what we accomplish this year!
